Set up menu for user3, format adv1 2 3 & left mods

I'm stumped! I need to put 2-3 links horizontally to the right and above the main menu on the home page and think that it's done using modules but I'm just not sure and too tired to experiment. Also, I've got a continuous horizontal line across advert1, 2 and 3. What's that all about? Is this a padding issue? If so, how do I fix it. Any help is greatly appreciated...I've looked at the set up guide and somehow "not getting it"...I'm figuring that while I'm asking questions, I'm struggling to get left mods set up to display different content on every page and adding a youtube video to the inset as well as simply adding pages and putting the content in the main body without the datestamp...As you can tell, I'm in dire need of help...

LumoMongo replied Menu module position & parameters

You need to make sure you have a menu module published to position user3. If you do not - create a new menu from the menus option on the admin back end menu - then go to your modules area and open that menu. Set the menu parameters as follows:

Set published to yes, show title to no.
Set the menu style to legacy - flat list.
Set the menu suffix to -nav.

Then just create the 3 menu items as required in the menu admin area of your backend. If you are still stuck after this let me know, or mail me your URL with a super admin account and I will sort it out for you!

As for the horizontal line... that is best I have a look at, as it could be many things...

As far as youtube videos are concerned, usually just pasting the youtube code into the custom module will display the video...

Also as far as getting modules to display on different pages - have you assigned the module to different pages (in the menu assignment area of the module settings)

Huh?! Sorry, that does not compute. I've got the top nav figured out okay and I'm sure that this left mods thing works - it's just a mystery to me! Please help.

Also, are there some simple directions to add pages without displaying the datestamp. I just want to add pages so I can incorporate them into the menu structure that I've already created. I've been away - but I'm back now and will stay on this until it's done...Thanx

LumoMongo replied hmm...

If you for example have a menu which has links to page one, page two, page three.
Then if you open a module in your back end (for example a module you only want to show on page two) - there is a section called menu assignment:

Change the Menus parameter checkbox to "Select Menu Item(s) from the List" and then in the "Menu Selection:" parameter you can select which pages the module will show up on.

So for example if you select page two only, the module will only show up on page two etc...

As for showing / hiding the date stamp - I will ask Skashi to look into that for you!

Hope that makes things clearer! Good Luck

ehudson3 replied We're getting closer...

Please allow me to clarify:

First, it doesn't matter to me whether the page content is created first (which appears to be the protocol from the Joomla! forum here)
or if the menu item is created first...At any rate, I want to place different content on each page that has leftmods (how is this done?)...

Secondly, on the image fusionlitemods.jpg does the modules in green mean that they are mandatory for each page? (can't they simply be hidden -- and if so, how is that done?)...

Lastly, I'm really interested in what Skashi has to say about hiding the datestamp (or even if I'd like to hide the mainbody module and use the inset module instead for the primary content in my pages...

I'm hanging in there Lumo and thank you for your diligence in helping me out.

skash replied Headings overhaul

The Advanced Content Headings got a massive overhaul on our latest template (Power Kite) which included the ability to show/hide the date options (and many other options too ) and although they work in the same fashion there are subtle differences between these two templates so it's not as easy as a copy/paste of code (if only it were so...)

I will fix this up sometime, hopefully soon and will let you know when the next release for this template has been made.

skash replied Fusion Lite update

Great News, I have updated the Fusion Lite template to v1.1.4 that includes the latest overhaul -of Theme Joomla's Advanced Content Headings!

Just send us a support ticket for the latest Fusion Lite template release and we will send you a download

LumoMongo replied Download link

I have sent you the download link for the new template version. I have also asked Skashi to explain the new features he implemented to you... let me know if you need any further help.

skash replied New Content Heading features

Hey guys, The new features of Theme Joomla's Advanced Content Headings are the options you would normally find when creating a new content item. It basically just utilizes all the options that Joomla already has.

For example, create a new content item and under the parameters tab you will see the options whether to show/hide various things like pdf, print, the title, the date etc. etc. In the older version of Advanced Content Headings even if you set the created/modify date to hide it would show the date in a block. The new version caters for this and will hide the date if set to HIDE. The title was another field that wouldn't hide if set to hide in the administrator tool, and should be fixed in the new version as well !!

Most of the changes were back-end changes and made for easier for improvements, if need be, for the future. Hope this clears things up
