Problem with paths generated by Joomla

Hi. I've finally gotten my site on a live server, and I'm having a problem with the paths generated by Joomla.

My site is presently installed here. You will note that the home page goes correctly where it should, and displays as it should. However, when you click on any menu link, the link resolves inside of a "index.php" directory. For example, clicking on "Welcome" brings the user to here. And these pages do not include the template or modules, so are completely messed up.

Obviously, I don't understand how Joomla is setting up the paths. Can you tell me what's up with this, and how to fix? Thanks.

skash replied Looks like you have SEF turned on

Some questions:

Are you using the standard sef that comes with Joomla?
Have you added your .htaccess file to the root of your site?

I've also noticed that all of your links are having the same issue so it is not just the menu that is causing this issue. Try changing the default template to one of the ones that came with your Joomla installation to see if it is a template specific issue.

You can send me login details to your Joomla site with super-admin rights and I'll have a look and if it is not a template issue specifically I will still be glad to have a look and perhaps guide you in the right direction

drsussman replied Thanks, a few more questions...

1. Yes, SEF was turned on. When I turned SEF off, the links are working again.

2. The problem was not specific to Fusion Lite - it existed with all templates.

3. I have the standard .htaccess file in my root directory, just the way it came with the Joomla installation. I have not modified it. That could be the problem?

4. I'll set you up with login and super-administrator rights -- please tell me how to send you this so it is not displayed in the public forum.

Thanks.

skash replied Best way to send login details

Hi, You can email support.at.themejoomla.com or go to the contact us link at the bottom of our site or the support link in our menu.

Once I get in I will be able to better answer your questions

LumoMongo replied enable SEF URL's

If you do not use the .htaccess URL re-write, then your Joomla URL's will have the /index.php/ folder in the URL. I recon this was done as a "better than nothing solution".

If you want SEF URL's enabled, turn it on in your global config and select Use Apache mod_rewrite. Then once you have saved that, rename the htaccess.txt file to .htaccess.

View your frontend, force-refresh your home page and all should be sorted! If that does not work, it could be that your host does not allow SEF or .htaccess re-writes, or that you have a conflicting component.

To send us login details so we can check it out, just send a support ticket (or mail here) with a super admin username and password you have created in the user admin backend of your site.

drsussman replied Thanks .htaccess fix helped

Hi. Your .htaccess fix got most things working. I really appreciate your help on this.

I'm still having problems with drop-down or expand-out menu items.
Please check out the site here. If you click on a regular menu item, say, for example, "Services", the URL resolves to this page and everything looks OK.

But if you click on a sub-item from the drop-down menu at the top or the expand-out menu at the side (say, for example, "Specialty Areas/Divorce", the item resolves to this page. The page seems to come up OK, but the colors and styles are lost.
