Frustrated with Power Slide setup
I bought Power Slide Pro based on the reviews and the demo, but have to say that I'm starting to regret it. I don't find it that simple to use and to not have a multitple upload option, or simple no option to use FTP to up load files is a negative. I thought the least you could do was allow the images to be uploaded via FTP to the images folder and then have an option that allows you to import into PSP would of been a basic option.
That aside I have a couple of question concerning the module. There appears to be a chicken and an egg situation concerning the set up of this product. If I turn the module on it appears on the page with the selected gallery showing. If I click on it I get a blank screen, with a left arrow, nothing else. It also appears to be loading in the module window, which is no good to me. What am I doing wrong?
Also what I really wanted is to use the module under the main menu section. The plan was to create a Menu Item called "Gallery" and have the enabled Galleries listed. Obviously I don't want the PSP module on as it then adds another section to the website, however if I disable it I get the following error's:
Notice: Undefined variable: module in E:\domains\w\wessexwyverns.org.uk\user\htdocs\joey\components\com_powerslidepro\views\module\view.html.php on line 24
Notice: Trying to get property of non-object in E:\domains\w\wessexwyverns.org.uk\user\htdocs\joey\components\com_powerslidepro\views\module\view.html.php on line 24
Underneath this I am left with a circluar animated logo and nothing else. If I enable the module, I get a white page with the following text:
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare imagearraygallery() (previously declared in E:\domains\w\wessexwyverns.org.uk\user\htdocs\joey\modules\mod_powerslidepro\tmpl\default.php:18) in E:\domains\w\wessexwyverns.org.uk\user\htdocs\joey\modules\mod_powerslidepro\tmpl\default.php on line 99
Now I fully accept that I'm doing something wrong, but your very unintuitive help articles aren't helping the matter, so can someone please help me.
Richemont replied Same issues
Wolfstan, I'm with you on that one. I have exactly the same issues. The only reason I have to use this rubbish is because you can't customize the slideshow controls in Expose 4 which rocks far more than this. Can't believe we bought this.
LumoMongo replied Not Power Slide Issues
Guys, why you being so negative? Your gallery does not work of the bat (which can be multiple issues including server and other issues) so now Power Slide is the worst decision you ever made?
Power Slide does exactly what it says it does in the demos. If you are going to have a cry because it does not have some feature that you see in other galleries after you purchased it - that is your own fault - because for example you don't go buy a car and afterward expect it to run on electricity because you saw another car that does.
All the issues mentioned below have been detailed in the forums and also are completely unrelated to Power Slide. The first issue - the notices - are notices. lower your server error reporting level - notices happen all the time with PHP, and are not errors in the product. do this in your server config or joomla config (both of which are not Power Slide)
The second issue (redaclare) has been in the forums like multiple times - you are displaying 2 slideshows on the same page. you can only show 1 per page.
Wolfstan, thanks for your decency in the matter, and I will help you out if you can send me your site URL with a super admin password and I will let you know exactly what is causing the issues - Richemont - if you cant believe you bought this and your are going to be such a wet blanket - lets give your money back - send me your order number and I will refund you, and you can go "rock on" with expose 4.
And just FYI - we have loads of orders every week - and all happy clients, which we help to our best ability through support and the forums to make sure there galleries and slide shows get online.
Wolfstan replied Images load to default folder
I've actually managed to resolve the picture display issue... although I'd configured the module to point at a certain folder, the Slider software simply loads the images to the default imageslider folder. I've now sorted that. What I'm left with now is it loading directly into the Slider module, which being about 250px wide is not very good. If it's a simple configuration issue let me know, other wise I will set you up an account .
LumoMongo replied Configuration parameter
That should just be one of the configuration parameters in the module - width and size...
Try that and if it is not getting you anywhere let me know and I will have a look and see what I can do!
Wolfstan replied Here's a screen grab
I'm attaching a screen grab of how it looks. I don't think size & width is an issue, it's how the module is displayed. It's displaying it in the module which is no good.
LumoMongo replied Got it
It is overflowing because the module is fixed at a small width - try any of these:
Move it to a wider module position (depending on your template)
Move it into an article
Link it just to the main menu (new menu link)
If none of those work drop me a super admin account and your URL and I will move it around for you, just let me know where you want it to display.
Wolfstan replied Getting there
Thank you, this is moving in the direction that I wanted. I still have a couple of issues / questions though. The thumbnails are still not displaying and I've checked the path. I'd also like the module to be part of master menu. As it is at the moment when you go to the site the module loads up on the frontpage, but I want the viewer to get to it by clicking on a "Gallery" link.
Again I thank you you for your help, you've been very helpful in gettting this sorted.
LumoMongo replied If thumbnails not showing...
It is 1 of 2 things:
1.Permission on the resizer.php file (in the Power Slide module directory) or your image folder 2.Directories or path issues to the thumbnail images (also not readable or absolute / relative URLs)
Try look into that, if no luck then mail me your web address and I will check it out.
Wolfstan replied Fatal Error msg
I checked the paths and all appears ok. Thought I'd managed to crack part of what I wanted to achieve, but was false alarm. I am now getting the following message:
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare imagearraygallery() (previously declared in E:domainswwessexwyverns.org.ukuserhtdocsjoeymodulesmod_powerslideprotmpldefault.php:18) in E:domainswwessexwyverns.org.ukuserhtdocsjoeymodulesmod_powerslideprotmpldefault.php on line 99
The URL is here. This is a test area and the Powerslide module is set up under Galley 2.
It's weird. I had the two galleries showing, but with no thumbnails. Went and checked the main images and found that I'd moved them / deleted whilst trying things out. I reset them back up. Images in place, with text. Went to view them and the 2 gallery blank thumbmnails had disappeared. Was now getting blank page. Checked everything, no go. Even just tried to get it to load as a module, nothing. Tried creating anothe copy of the module, no go. Removed the copy and now have the above error message. have even cleared the cache a couple of times. Any ideas?
LumoMongo replied Yep...
You calling 2 galleries on that page - most probably a menu link and in a module.
Easiest way to get it looking good would be to mail me a super admin login and I can have a look at your setup.
