This topic has been moved from the Color Fusion category, as it is related to Fusion Lite.

Modules and Joomla 1.5
by toolbox978 6 Months ago
I screwed up! When I originally installed FusionLite, the module controls were installed. For some unknown reason, I tried creating a new module using "Theme Joomla Controls", and now I receive the following error when you try to visit my website:

Fatal error: Class 'tjcontrols' not found in /home/uwtria2/public_html/newsite/modules/mod_tj_controls/mod_tj_controls.php on line 23

I deleted the module that I created, but the error was still there. So I uninstalled the module controls, and then reinstalled them, and the error disappeared and my site works fine.

So what exactly is the Controls module for? Simply to adjust settings on the template? Other tempates I have installed do not require a separate module, so I am a bit confused.

Modules and Joomla 1.5 explained
by Lumo 6 Months ago
I think the confusion is between the Joomla versions and the guides, as we are finalizing the Fusion Lite guide today (had to be changed a little bit since being up yesterday)... but here is a basic rule of thumb and explanation of the reasoning for the module...

Theme Joomla templates have extra javascript features, these features have options which can be controlled from the front end of the site. (selecting colors, changing fonts).

Now in older Joomla (1.0.x versions) we had to create the Controls module in order for the module options to show up on the front-end and so that we can release control module updates. The module also activates and configures lot of the template features, so even if you dont want to show it in the front-end you must still publish the module and just hide it in the module paramaters.

In Joomla 1.5 this is all built into the template so there is no need to install the control module - so a basic rule of thumb is as follows:

Joomla 1.0.x - install the module to position user9 and publish.
Joomla 1.5.x - just install the template.

The guide will be updated today to reflect all of this
