Re-ordering images question

Is re-ordering images in a gallery a feature of the Pro version only?

LumoMongo replied XML method in free version

The Pro version contains the full administration component - which is similar to like Joomla article management, which can be ordered via the table ordering field.

If in the free version you use the XML method, then you can order the images as the XML is read from top to bottom, but with the folder method - images are just read by file name order

freebug replied Last Picture Upload!

I purchased pro version, using it at my news website.

5 news picture showcase..
I'd like to have last picture added showing first.
Random sort picture option, set to NO in admin section, still last image I upload, ends up #5th image

How do I fix that ?

LumoMongo replied I think there is a bit of confusion here...

If you upload 5 images into a slideshow - they will be assigned image ID's 1 to 5. Images will be displayed in this order so you have to re-order your images in the images section in the admin component so that your last image (5) is first.

Then it will display them in the correct order. If you still stuck drop me a support mail with a super admin login and I will have a look for you and sort it out

freebug replied Usually last loaded is on top

When I add news content to frontpage it is automatically up on top first on the page. No reordering, right?
With Proslide ... Sometimes I only add one news content, so I add one picture related to news.
I will send you email from admin side support link...

LumoMongo replied Doesn't work that way with slides

ah... I see what you are saying - as in when create blog/news articles in Joomla the latest article always shows first...

That is not how it works with slides though, first image taken is always first image shown - think for example if you went on holiday to the beach - and wanted to put up your images in a slideshow - you would want them in order of your holiday - not the last picture first

Although I do think this is a good idea - I will ask Skashi to look into it

skash replied Power Slide Pro 1.3.1 release

I am busy wrapping up the release of Power Slide Pro 1.3.1 and it will be available by latest 20 Jan 2010.
Once this has been completed I will be able to assist you regarding your request.
I will also send you the updated release.

EDIT: Ok this one is easy. Firstly download and install the latest Power Slide Pro release (1.3.1).

Then open up: [site name]/modules/mod_powerslidepro/helper.php and change the following:

Line 335:

. " ORDER BY ordering"

to:

. " ORDER BY ordering DESC"

And do the exact same for line 376:

. " ORDER BY ordering"

Change to:

. " ORDER BY ordering DESC"

freebug replied What if I have 1.3.0

Ok this one is easy. Firstly download and install the latest Power Slide Pro release (1.3.1).

I don't have 1.3.1 mine is 1.3.0
Can I just change
" ORDER BY ordering" to: " ORDER BY ordering DESC"?

Only thing, which one? because there are 3 spots...

LumoMongo replied Only one way to tell

Try them one by one.

Nice one of figuring that out though!

hawkes replied Doesn't seem to work

I love Powerslide Pro and use it all the time, but the one thing about it that would make my life easier would be the ability to reorder images like you do menu items. It looks like this request has been made before, but I haven't been able to find a solution.

The recommendation in this thread doesn't seem to work, as there is only one instance of "ORDER BY ordering", not at either of the lines indicated here. Adding DESC to the string doesn't seem to do anything.

Another post from the administrator tells that the intent is for the chronological sequence of a slideshow to be maintained by listing the first item posted, first. This is understandable, but the ability to reorder by clicking buttons (as a default feature) would probably make everyone's work easier. If I posted a slideshow and wanted to reorder without deleting and uploading the whole thing again, it would be the click of a button.

I've got 1.3.1 installed and have tested all the recommended fixes, to no avail. If I'm missing something, please let me know! The site I'm testing on is here.

LumoMongo replied Think ordering is built in

Hmm, lemme check with Skashi - not sure but I think that ordering has been built in and should be working - but lemme check first...
