Power Slide not working
Looks great, but I can't get it to do anything.
Both the component and module installed correctly into Joomla. That's good!
After that nothing works intuitively with the component.. Uploading images just leads to a dead end and images that do not go into a folder that I created after trying to Select that folder.
Went to module next, set path to the images/slideshow folder where the images went instead of the folder I created and tried to select and nothing happens.
Do you have step-by-step instructions somewhere how to get started so that one can create something that looks like the demo?
LumoMongo replied Should work perfectly
Hello! sorry to hear this...
I will re-test it today, as we just updated it with loads of fixes... check that your folder (image and cache) are chmod 755 (read and writeable)... that should help with the image upload...
Yes, there are guides to check for component setup & configuration on our site.
If you figure out what is wrong, let us know... otherwise if you cannot get it working, send me FTP and a super admin account and I will get it running for you...
skash replied Module & component work independently
One thing to note is that although Power Slide Pro comes as a administrator component and front end module we have designed them to work independently of each other. The reason for this is that we will be introducing future enhancements that will "latch on" to this extension where you, as a user developing your site, will be able to use the Power Slide Pro extension for multiple uses and displays.
The module can work without the component by using the folder or xml method. The path you set in the module is only going to affect the module. The component uses the /[site name]/images/powerslide/ path by default. If the component decides where the image paths should be, then the module would be dependent on the component which we are trying to avoid.
I do understand your frustration as it is not clear to how the image paths are used . Hopefully I have spread some light on this situation. I have added a feature request for this topic to the project so stay tuned for this enhancement in its later releases .
pauloortiz replied Invalid argument error
Hey, thank you for your quick response. Sorry I'm a little slow getting back.
I basically did as the instructions said, but what happened is that after I tried to Select the category, I went into a dead end. There was no way to proceed - forwards or backwards. After this happened, I thought maybe something happened when I downloaded the copy, so I uninstalled the component which joomla said was successful. Then I looked in the database and I didn't see any tables, and then I looked in my folders and found the powerslide/images folder (but with no category in it) - so I deleted that folder, and reinstalled the powerslide pro successfully.
But I ran into this error and now I'm stuck:
Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/xxxxxx/public_html/administrator/components/com_powerslidepro/views/galleries/view.html.php on line 62 DB function failed with error number 1054 Unknown column 'g.default_image' in 'order clause' SQL=SELECT m.* FROM jos_powerslide_gallery AS m ORDER BY g.default_image desc LIMIT 0, 1
LumoMongo replied We will get yours working...
Try these:
- uninstall both, remove folders.
- the warning - in your backend, go to your site configuration, and change error warning level to a lower value (or just turn it off for now)
- if the folder remained when you uninstalled - it could mean that the permissions on those folders were not able to delete them - make sure (once installed again) that those folders are 755 - or read and writable by server...
- Once re-installed on both - try put some images ONLY in the image directory as specified in the module (from your root) directory and NOT subdirectories inside there - then see if you can select those images from the backend admin component.
- Set the module to admin component method, publish where you want it, go the admin component and try add images...
If you are still stuck after this, send me a screenshot of the problem (if you cannot give me access) and we can try something else... sorry this is giving you hassles, once we figure out what the problem is so we can solve it for good... and we will
LumoMongo replied "Editor Button - Image" plugin...
Right! All sorted as follows:
The main culprit was a system plugin called "Editor Button - Image" which was set to registered users only and also disabled. The problem with this is that when you add images to a gallery - using the image management - it uses the built in joomla image management "box" which in turn uses this plugin...
One other thing that could have caused problem was the "legacy" mode - which would only have caused real problems when trying to install / uninstall - always make sure legacy is off when doing this, so it installs / uninstalls correctly...
pauloortiz replied Working nicely now
Well, wouldn't you know it, I had a few settings that were off which prevented me from using this fabulous module and component. (If I were unscrupulous I'd tell all of you that it's no good so I could have it all to myself - but the fact is it's really nice and once I master it, it's going to be better). As noted above, I gave the team here temporary account permissions to go in and investigate. They solved the problem and even set it up for me. Everything after that was basic Joomla; create galleries, upload pics, write accompanying text, publish in the desired module position, voila, nice feature. I have two galleries published and plan for more.
I have a request and might have missed it. Is it possible to get the lytebox to show next and back icons? Also, it's probably there, but I don't see how to hide the number of pics in a gallery.
LumoMongo replied Upgraded the light box
We have upgraded the light box used in Power Slide - for the next version release, which will be in about 2 months - with great more flexibility, as requested...
As to hiding the image numbers, I assume you mean in either the gallery list view or the slideshow carousel... I will task this for a future release as well
pauloortiz replied Top rating
I think it's only fair to come back to this forum and say thanks again to these guys after all the work they did to get me going. The module is great. With the component it's even better and opens up fantastic possibilities. If you want your site to be visual, or need a way to drive people into specific areas of your site (selling pics, shoes, underwear, cars, ocean front property in Chad for example), this is one way to do it. I like it. So do others coming to my site. Thanks, guys!
LumoMongo replied Great to hear
Thanks for the positive review! Always awesome to hear from fellow positive people out there!
