Well, I also work with a lot of images, and I reckon your best bet first off is to use an image editor which shows live optimizing - I personally use Adobe Fireworks.

My rule of thumb:

Less than 50 colors (logo type images) = PNG format
More than that (Photos etc) = JPG optimized

That size (60/70kb) sounds great - obviously the bigger the image the bigger the file size - and also remember that Power Slide dynamically loads images - so it will only load a few slides ahead at a time while being viewed.

This being said, we have clients that have over 100/200 images in a single slide show with no issues!

Thanks for responding so quickly. The problem is that, at times, my website takes so long to load, I'm sure that anyone hooking in will get fed up and leave. I thought it was because I have Power Slide as the most prominent part of the home page. If that's not the problem, does anyone know of any other way I can check why my home page is taking so long to load?

LumoMongo replied Hmm, well that could be so many things...

Often I find the culprit is external resources being loaded into a site - or large uncompressed javascript files... or even worse (and usually the ironic culprit) just your connection speed to server, in relation to your internet speed.

As for something to check all this, I dont know of anything, what I usually do is just disable everything and start from the beginning enabling bit by bit to see where the issue lies..
